HOW MUCH is the umbrella ?  > singulier car je parle d’un seul objet.

différence entre ø + pluriel et the + pluriel

exemple :

(a) The masks in the shop are great. the + pluriel

(b)  Masks are great for Halloween.    ø + pluriel

dans (a) on parle de masques en particulier, ceux de ce magasin.

dans (b) on parle de masques en général , tous les masques.
